This course will be a semester class. It will be for all sophomores to take as part of their graduation requirements here at Hubbard High School. They will earn .50 elective credit to go toward their 21 credits needed for graduation requirements. Students will receive a pass/fail mark for their transcript. This course will have many speakers throughout the course from various volunteer organizations, career personnel, along with local rotary community speakers.
Course Requirements:
Major Service Project (15 Hours)
Students will write up a proposal of their service idea
Completion of service log
Reflection paper (rubric? journal)
Presentation to their class about their project
Complete a peer review of each service project
Volunteer at 3 different events (totalling a minimum 10 hours)
Complete log with mentor/host signature
Write a journal about each experience
Attend 1 City Council Meeting,Township Meeting, Or Board of Education Meeting
Complete log with signature
Write a journal about the experience
Students will start the groundwork for the OhioMeansJob Readiness Seal
During the course will lay out this seal and the requirements
Discussion on each skill
Work on part 3 of the Ohiomeansjobs k-12 career profile
