Students in Ms. Bennett's 7th grade history classes showed their learning about the World War 1 era by creating silent movies. They chose topics to research like trench warfare, Prohibition, the sinking of the Lusitania, the Harlem Renaissance and more. In groups they created scripts and acted out the scenes together in the auditorium. After filming they learned how to collaboratively use WeVideo to make the footage appear aged, add music and other effects. While these are in the silent movie style, they still communicate a lot!
Students work together with ipads and green screen technology to capture their video footage.
Students used signs and props to create the silent film effect.
All portions of the auditorium were used for this project!
Editing
Students worked in WeVideo and Chrome Music Maker to create their videos with an old look and special sound effects. They had to communicate and collaborate together as they learned this new process with up to 5 people editing the video at one time.
