A Day in My Shoes:Â
Walking Through History
Ms. Capel's 7th grade English class completed the project "A Day in My Shoes: Walking Through History". Students researched a historical figure and create a physical shoe that represented that person's life, achievements, and impact on history. The project contained design thinking with idea generation and research, sketching designs and building a prototype shoe.
The class considered the historical era, style, and appropriate footwear for their chosen figure. They then used basic materials like cardboard, paper, and tape to construct the 3D prototype. The finished shoes contained two symbols representing the historical figure's identity and contributions. This hands-on project allowed students to creatively explore history while practicing research, design, and construction skills which was later shown at the Rolfe Student Expo!
