Rolfe's Little Free Pantry

8th grade students in Mr. Jones' CTE class created a Little Free Pantry for the Varina community.  They learned about what it takes to be a global citizen as they investigated food deserts and how they can help. The class tested out different designs in cardboard and then worked together to construct a final pantry. This pantry is installed at the front of the school and the Varina community can "Take what you need. Give what you can." Learn more about the movement at littlefreepantry.org. This project was a part of the Henrico 21 entry for Rolfe. See more on the Henrico 21 page.

Students work on designs for various little free pantries.

Classmates work together as learn to cut the cardboard.

Students share out their prototypes with the class and receive feedback.

Construction on the pantry has begun in the woodshop. Students worked together to use the proper tools, materials and measurements to create the pantry.
