Heartwood Charter School is required to provide the following opportunities per SB 130 and SB 167:

High School, grades 9-12

• Weekly synchronous instruction opportunity

  • This must be provided by any credentialed teacher at Heartwood

  • Sessions can be 1 on 1, in small group, or classroom setting

  • Sessions can be conducted over the phone, via zoom, or onsite

  • This can be focused work on any subject listed on their master agreement

  • There is no minimum or maximum time for each session

  • They will not be graded however it is a good opportunity to obtain a worthy work sample

Grades 4-8

• Daily live interaction can happen with any Heartwood employee, this will be provided in the form of

  • Daily interaction does not need to involve your assigned CST, it can be achieved with any Heartwood CST or employee

  • Field trips, onsite and virtual classes, tutoring, and social clubs

  • There is not a minimum or maximum time required for this but attendance will be taken daily by all Heartwood employees and teachers at all events

  • This is an opportunity available to your student

• Weekly synchronous instruction opportunities can be provided by any credentialed Heartwood teacher

  • Our goal is to provide 15-20 minutes of instruction per week unless onsite, minimum

  • Parent/guardian discuss with the CST a subject that they would like to focus on in their weekly meetings offering support to the parent.  Math for example, and the CST focuses on supporting them on their math journey

  • Weekly nature journaling tasks with specific core subject instruction

Grades TK-3

• Daily synchronous instruction with any credentialed teacher at Heartwood

  • Can be provided in person, virtually or over the phone

  • Can be provided 1 on 1, in a small group, or in a classroom setting (virtually or onsite)

  • There is not a specific time frame for how long the daily synchronous instruction must be. Our goal is to provide 15-20 minutes of daily instruction minimum

• As an ISP we are required to offer this opportunity daily however it is up to you to attend

• If you would like this opportunity for your child you need to communicate with your assigned CST

• It is suggested that a minimum of 1 session be attended per day
