Obtain the K12 form or Dual Enrollment form from the JC.
Verify that the child is eligible by the college's guidelines and fills out the student information portion.
Once the form has been completed email it to heather@heartwoodcharterschool.org
Our High School Coordinator and the assigned CST will make sure the student is "in good academic standing." This ensures student success as these courses will be permanently on the student's college record.
Please make note of the drop date on your calendar. If the course is over the child's head, they can get out before risking their future college GPA if they withdraw before this date.
Your assigned CST need not collect samples for the College Dual Enrollment class. HOWEVER, the student must NOT be enrolled in a similar high school class at Heartwood Charter School. For example: a high school student taking Macroeconomics at the local CC should NOT also be taking high school Econ and turning in samples from the college class.
When the course is completed, it is the parent's responsibility to request transcripts and have them sent to the school. A single semester course is usually given 2 semesters of High School credits. Transcripts must be submitted to heather@heartwoodcharterschool.org at least 2 weeks before official Heartwood Transcripts are needed.
