If you have an 8th grader or below that would like to take a Math course for High School Credit, click this link. See Math options for grades 9-12 here.
High School:
All courses listed on the Master Agreement must be supported by an accredited vendor or A-G.
If the course listed on the Master Agreement is not supported by a vendor listed above, you must provide a Syllabus and Lesson Plan before the end of the first learning period for the SST Team to review
All students in grades 9-12 will be assigned to an SST (Single Subject Credentialed Teacher)
All work samples will continue to be reviewed by a member of the SST Team
Dual enrollment courses must be listed on the Master Agreement, your CST will have instructions on how to support this.
Students in grades three and higher:
All students will be required to complete the STAR ELA and STAR Math assessments twice annually.
The first assessment set due the last day of September 2025
The second assessment set due the last day of January 2026
For students with IEPs, assessments will be completed virtually with the support of the child's Case Manager or Academic Specialist
Again, these changes allow our teachers to support best the students who make up this amazing community that we have at Heartwood Charter School and ensure that they are making academic progress. Data from the assessments will be used throughout the year and reported back to the Authorizer of Heartwood Charter School at the time of our recharter.
Thank you,

Asst Director of Heartwood Charter School
Welcome to High School at Heartwood! We are excited to begin this important journey with you. We have outlined some important information that will help you to successfully navigate your way through our program. Please read through the important points below and reach out to your CST with any questions.
High School Big Picture
Heartwood Charter School supports students in Grades 9-12 to choose courses based on their academic, career, and personal interests. Heartwood’s graduation requirements expect students to fulfill a minimum variety of courses to help them prepare to enter the workforce, attend college or university, or enter military service directly after high school. Heartwood Charter School graduation requirements allow students to have greater flexibility in the courses that they take and allow students to explore individual interests. The curricula for each course can be designed as a collaborative effort between students, parents, and the CST’s to ensure California State Standards for those courses are met. To ensure learning progress in their courses, students are expected to complete at least 6-7 hours per week of work for each five unit course. Credit for courses can be earned through pre-approved programs that offer transcripts and are fully accredited. Proof of enrollment in these courses is required and must be submitted before the course can be added to the master agreement.
It is very important to understand that we do not guarantee graduation from our program unless the minimum graduation requirements are met and are evaluated by our High School Coordinator. Students joining our school after the start of 9th grade must submit official transcripts for all courses that they have completed. This includes any Junior College Classes the student has taken before or after their tenure at Heartwood. Credit will only be given to the student when Heartwood has received the official transcript for that course. Send all transcripts to enroll@heartwoodcharterschool.org at the end of each semester to update student records.
Please Note: We are not an A-G or WASC Accredited program. For UC and CSU applications, students apply by exception.
