Welcome to Clapton Park. Come and find out what we do in our centre!
Every morning at 9.20am when the children come in they have a dough disco. Each child is given their own ball of play dough, an adult in the room will put on music and for 5 minutes model and give them instructions to follow. The children dance along to the music while rolling, patting, squeezing and poking the play dough.Â
This session helps the children to develop their fine motor skills and to strengthen their muscles in the parts of the body that are used when writing e.g. fingers, hands, arms etc. Dough disco also helps children's ability to focus, acquire language skills as well as develop their listening skills. We feel that this session is also a fun way to transition in the morning from waving goodbye to their parents to saying hello to their friends in their nursery room.
