Now Press Play

Now Press Play is an interactive storytelling session. During the session our children wear a headset whilst listening to a story chosen by the practitioner. This could be based on the children’s interests or the topic which is being taught in the room. Through the story there are a series of actions encouraging the children to be active and to boost their engagement. Once the story has ended the practitioner will assess their understanding through the use of a story map or questions which are related to simple events in the story. They are then able to continue that learning through linking child provision during free flow throughout the week. This again helps practitioners to assess their knowledge and understanding. 

Now Press Play also links to the wellbeing of our children and their emotional development which is addressed through discussion e.g circle time.  

We have found that this programme increases children’s vocabulary, imagination, listening and attention and comprehension. The interactive side also links to our healthy child programme. Now Press Play can also be accessed from home for use outside of the nursery as part of home learning. We provide parents with the password and necessary details. Each room takes part in Now Press Play sessions on a designated day twice a week.
