We try to ensure a smooth transition from nursery to school. We recognise that our children are all unique and have different needs and interests. Our Centre Teacher works closely with parents to ensure that they and their children are ready for school.

We prepare parents by firstly informing them of the application process and important deadline dates. Then all parents/carers are invited to attend workshops discussing how to prepare children at home before they start school for instance, encouraging them to be more independent and dress and undress without their help, setting up activities to develop their fine motor skills such as cutting with scissors or mark making with felt tips or exploring numbers by playing games that involve recognising and ordering numbers.

In the pre-school rooms the staff will also have conversations with the children, role play scenarios and set up activities in order to help them to prepare for school.

Once we are aware of which school the children have been accepted to the Centre Teacher will contact the school for a meeting. A viewing will then be arranged for the room lead, parent, child and another senior member to have a look around the school and meet with the teachers to ensure a smooth transition. Due to COVID 19 this may be carried out via zoom or by telephone.
