The Acorn Room (2-3 years old)
In the Acorn Room, children embark on an exciting journey toward greater independence. This is a crucial stage in their development where they begin to think for themselves and tackle problems with confidence. As they navigate through various activities, they learn to use language more effectively, enhancing their ability to communicate their thoughts and feelings.
During this time, children start to recognise and apply the skills they have been taught with minimal support from adults. This growing independence is not just about academic skills; it also encompasses social interactions. Children begin to engage in play alongside their peers, learning the importance of inclusion and cooperation in group settings.
As they play together, children become more aware of their body movements and how their bodies function. This awareness encourages them to explore through active play, which is vital for their physical development. They experiment with different movements and activities, fostering both gross motor skills and coordination.
Overall, the Acorn Room provides a nurturing environment where children can thrive as independent thinkers and effective communicators while developing essential social skills through play.
