Welcome to Clapton Park. Come and find out what we do in our centre!
The Beech room is a sessional room which takes place during term time only. Children from the age of 2 to 3 years old attend in the morning from 9.00am to 12.00pm and children from the age of 3 to 5 years old attend in the afternoon from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
In our nursery there are children with Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCP) who require additional support. There is a high level of children with additional needs in the Beech room who are supported through our provision which takes into consideration that these children may need more time and opportunities to learn and develop their skills.
Our staff use the key person system to get to know the children as individuals in order to plan effectively to cater to their additional needs and to support them inside and outside of the nursery. We work closely with the parent or carer of the child , the Centre Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) and Area SENCO. We also work with external agencies such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and allocated Social Workers to enable the children to reach their full potential.
Our toddlers in the Beech room are encouraged to be an independent learner, develop new physical and cognitive skills, to use simple sentences, engage in pretend play and begin to develop their own narratives, follow simple instructions and to explore new objects and people.
Our preschoolers (4-5) in the Beech room are encouraged to explore and ask about the things around them to gain clarity. They are encouraged to use extended sentences when expressing themselves or during conversation, to share their own ideas and experiences with others, to use equipment safely and be aware of the need for safety and to help to dress and undress themselves.
