Welcome to Clapton Park. Come and find out what we do in our centre!
Tapestry is a secure online learning journal which we use to record photographs, videos, observations and comments in line with the EYFS curriculum. This allows each practitioner to build up a record of the children’s experiences in our nursery. The parents/ carers are also able to share and record information of their child’s play and learning in and outside of the nursery. Tapestry allows us to have online contact with the parent/ carers and to mutually contribute to a child’s learning and development.
Each child in our nursery is provided with an individual learning journal online which can be accessed with any computer device. Their parents/carers are given their own log-in using their email address and password. This is set up by us but can be changed by the parent to make them more secure. All of our staff are given a secure login. From day to day the practitioners in the room will make observations of a child in a group session or during free-flow. They will watch or interact with the child within their play to assess different areas of learning.
The practitioner will also take photographs or videos of the engagement and write a comment about what they have observed.
Tapestry in our nursery is used to record the children’s achievements and are shared with parents when published. We encourage the parents/ carers to record and share their children’s achievements outside of the nursery in this way. Parents/carers can receive an email that is automatically generated to inform them of when an observation has been uploaded so that they can have a look and ask any comments of their own. This can be changed within their settings.
Every Friday each room will upload a collage of photos from the room which will inform the parent/carer about the topic that the children have been learning about for the week or a ‘wow’ moment that a child may have had.
