Weekly Update 2023-2024
Be Kind * Be Respectful * Be Your Personal Best
4-5-2024
Thank you to the D67 Foundation for hosting the annual D67 Trivia Night tomorrow evening at the Moose Lodge! See below for more information. I look forward to seeing many of you there!
We are very excited about the solar eclipse on Monday afternoon! Today in advisory, we discussed what we will be doing on Monday. It will be an exciting afternoon at GMS and we look forward to sharing this experience!
Here is a great 7-minute video about the Solar Eclipse and why it is so cool! - 2024 Total Solar Eclipse Video
Click here to see what the coverage will look like in Morton Grove - here.
We will be outside for a while, if students would like to bring a towel to sit on the ground they can do that.
Can students take their cell phones outside to take pictures or videos during the eclipse?
NO. This is still school and phones need to be turned off and in their locker. Students will be taking data and noting observations throughout our time outside. This is an academic opportunity and we are maximizing this rare opportunity. In addition, students should focus on wearing their safety glasses to protect their eyes and not look at this event through a lens.
Are you watching the Eclipse?
Make sure you wear your Solar Eclipse Safety glasses! Watch this video - Safely Viewing the Eclipse - to learn more.
Report cards will be available in Infinite Campus on Wednesday, April 10th.
Grab and Go Lunches on Half-Days - We have a half-day coming up on Thursday, April 18th. Please complete this form (Grab and Go Lunch Form) for every child you would like to have a sack lunch made for that day.
This form will close on Friday, April 12th at noon.
The cost of the sack lunch is the same as the regular school day lunch ($4.00, reduced $0.40) and includes a vegetarian (soy/sunbutter and jelly) sandwich, a vegetable, a fruit and drink.
8th-grade parents - End-of-year information - It is hard to believe that we are in the home stretch of your son or daughter’s middle school career! Next week, all 8th-grade students will receive information about the end-of-year activities! 🏀 ♥️ ⚽️ ♥️ 🏐 GMS Sports Section 🏐 ♥️ ⚽️ ♥️ 🏀
Most sports are for students in 7th (JV) and 8th (Varsity) grades. For some sports, we offer opportunities to the 6th graders. That depends on the interest at the 7th and 8th-grade levels.
IF you have a child who is planning on trying out for one of the seasons below next year, he/she
MUST have a current sports physical on file in the nurse's office.
PLEASE DO NOT WAIT. A student cannot try out without a current physical on file.
FALL sports
Girls Volleyball (Sept-Oct) - Varsity and JV
Boys Soccer (Sept-Oct) - Varsity and JV
WINTER sports
Girls Basketball (Nov-Dec) - Varsity and JV
Boys Basketball (Jan-Mar) - Varsity and JV
