Weekly Update 2023-2024

Be Kind    *    Be Respectful    *    Be Your Personal Best

10-20-2023

Thank you to everyone who attended Parent Teacher Conferences. We always appreciate connecting with parents!  If you attended conferences on Thursday, October 19th or Friday, October 20th, we would love your feedback - click here for a short survey.

Picture Re-takes - If you do not like the photo or your student was absent on picture day, picture re-takes are on Tuesday, October 24th. Please have your child bring the picture proofs with them on the re-take day if you plan to have them take a new photo.

A shout-out to our Girls' Varsity and JV volleyball teams!  What a day of volleyball last Saturday. JV got 3rd place in the tournament and the Varsity WON their tournament. Thank you to Coach Harford (and Mrs. Navarro for helping at the tournament) for a great season!

A shout-out to our Boys' Varsity and JV soccer teams!  The varsity won their final match under the lights at Niles West on October 10th!  Our JV team played their hearts out this season and wrapped up last week as well!  Thank you to Coach Dahlberg and Coach Mihalic for their guidance and for guiding our players all season long!

Girls’ Varsity and JV Basketball - The next sports season us upon us! Tryouts will be Tuesday, October 24th from 3:30-5:00 pm.  If necessary, there may be tryouts on Wednesday, October 25th from 3:30-5:00 pm.  As a reminder, the girls MUST have an up-to-date Physical on file in order to tryout.  If you have any questions here are your contacts:

Do you like TRIVIA or do you like EVENT PLANNING?   The D67 Foundation needs someone to organize Trivia Night, which typically takes place in late winter/early spring.  This has been an incredibly FUN and well-attended event, AND has raised a lot of money for the D67 Foundation.  If you are interested or would like more information, please email info@golf67foundation.org.

The PTA is hosting a Trunk-or-Treat event on Saturday, October 28th (10:00-11:30 AM). Please check out the PTA section below for more information.

8th grade parents - Reminder that the eighth-grade students will be taking the PSAT at Niles North on Saturday, October 28th. The high school shared details about this with parents via email and USPS.

The Volunteer Service Club is sponsoring TWO service projects that start on Monday, October 23rd and go until Friday, November 17th.

VSC will be sharing the warmth and the sweetness by creating care packages with socks and candy for people in our community - Connections for the Homeless in Evanston.

Lost and Found – It’s amazing how fast the items in lost and found accumulate in a middle school!  If you think your child is missing a sweatshirt, water bottle, notebook, lunch bag, etc. please encourage them to check the lost and found in the front lobby.  At the end of next week, all remaining items will be donated.

Most sports are for students in 7th (JV) and 8th (Varsity) grades.  For some sports, we offer opportunities to the 6th graders. That depends on the interest at the 7th and 8th-grade levels.

IF you have a child who is planning on trying out for one of the seasons below next year, he/she

MUST have a current sports physical on file in the nurse's office.

PLEASE DO NOT WAIT.  A student cannot try out without a current physical on file.
