Another exciting week at GMS!

• Congratulations to our Cheerleaders and Ms. Frake who did an awesome job last Saturday at the Little Nine Cheer Competition. This was the FIRST time GMS has ever competed in this event and the squad did an awesome job with a clean routine!  Way to go!!!

• Thank you and well done to Mr. Kohring and our Chorus students for a great concert last night!

• GIRLS Soccer tryouts will be on Wednesday, MARCH 20th (3:30-5:00 pm) for girls in grades 6-8. If you have any specific questions please contact the coach:

Students MUST have a current sports physical on file in the nurse’s office in order to tryout for soccer or volleyball. No sports physical = NO Tryout. PLEASE do not wait until the last minute to get the physical. Sports physicals are good for only one year.  Please call the school nurse, Mrs. Wilson (kwilson@golf67.net), if you have questions about what we have on file for your child in regard to his/her last physical.

The Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey is available and open to parents until March 29, 2024.  We want and need your input!  As of today, GMS only has 15% of the parents who've completed the survey.  We are getting closer! For GMS to receive a parent report, we must have at least 20% response rate. To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin.   If you have children at both Hynes Elementary School and Golf Middle School, please complete a survey for each school.  

• The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Supportive Environments, and Ambitious Instruction.

Ongoing reminders... Thank you for helping your middle schooler remember these three things EVERY DAY:

1. 1. 1. Bring a fully CHARGED Chromebook to school.

      2. Wear their school lanyard and student ID to school.

      3. Arrive ON TIME to school. Students should be sitting in their seats by 8:20 am (best to drop off by 8:10 am).
