Good luck to all of the students performing in the IGSMA Solo Ensemble Contest this weekend! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to perform and get feedback from other music specialists.  Good luck!

As a reminder, there is no school for students next Friday, March 1st because of a Teacher Institute Day.

NEXT FRIDAY -  I look forward to seeing you at the annual International Celebration of Cultures from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at Golf Middle School! Admission is ONLY $2 per person at the door. I hope you can come to celebrate and enjoy the diversity with have in our wonderful district!  As a reminder, parking is always a challenge at this event. You may park in the Fareva parking lot just north of GMS AND the US Bank parking lot just south of GMS.

The IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) Assessments are just around the corner!  Please mark your calendars now to help ensure your students' attendance on these days.  Thank you!

ALL students need earbuds or headphones for the ELA (reading) tests. Unfortunately, AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones are not allowed. Headphones are an expected school supply.  Also, students are not allowed to wear ANY smartwatches during testing. Please keep these devices at home.

The Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey is available and open to parents until March 29, 2024.  We want and need your input!  As of today, GMS only has 8% of the parents who've completed the survey.  To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin.   If you have children at both Hynes Elementary School and Golf Middle School, please complete a survey for each school.  

• The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are Effective Leaders, Collaborative Teachers, Involved Families, Supportive Environments, and Ambitious Instruction.

REPEAT - Opportunity from the MGPD - Citizens Police and Fire Academy. This is a FREE, 12-week program, one block of instruction per week, designed to give community members an understanding of the operation of the Morton Grove Police and Fire Department and a working knowledge of what law enforcement and firefighting is all about. The Academy classes are held once a week, every Wednesday, and are approximately 2 hours in duration. The classes will be held at the Morton Grove Village Hall (most nights) from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. It runs from March 6th - May 22nd, 2023. You must be at least 18 years old and there is a basic background check.

Ongoing reminders... Thank you for helping your middle schooler remember these three things EVERY DAY:

1. 1. 1. Bring a fully CHARGED Chromebook to school.

      2. Wear their school lanyard and student ID to school.

      3. Arrive ON TIME to school. Students should be sitting in their seats by 8:20 am (best to drop off by 8:10 am).
