Quarter 2 Report cards and the winter NWEA Map reports are available IN the CAMPUS PORTAL.  You can click here for the quick reference sheet on how to find all of your child's report cards and MAP reports.

School Nurse - Mrs. Shapiro retired this week and we are securing nurse subs for the next few weeks while we work to hire a new school nurse. If you have any medical notes (i.e. doctor's notes, physicals, eye exams, etc.) please send them to the school office or email them to Ms. Casto (lcasto@golf67.net).  Ms. Casto will temporarily receive all communications regarding health office matters. If you know anyone who is an RN or certified school nurse, please encourage them to apply - school nurse application page and job description.

8th Grade Band Day - On Wednesday, Mrs. Bowering took the 8th-grade band students to Niles North for 8th-grade Band Day! Students spent the morning playing music with their peers from the other Niles North Sender Schools, which was followed up with an evening concert at Niles North!  This is always a valuable experience for our band students!

Today during advisory, students in 5th grade started their LEAD the Way classes.  LEAD the Way is a 7-week program facilitated by our Morton Grove Police Department community officers - Officer Jurasz, Officer Lietz, and Officer Cima.  The program is designed to help students understand and learn how to deal with bullying situations, the dangerous effects of drugs and alcohol, staying safe on the Internet, and ways to build confidence.  The first class was a huge success.  Ask your 5th grader about it.

Parent-teacher Conferences - Parents received an email with the letter GMS Parent-Teacher Conferences Winter 2024, which contains specific details and instructions on how to sign up for conferences.

Dropping off students on Waukegan Road - We have seen an increase of parents stopping on Waukegan Road during morning arrival to drop off their child(ren).  We understand the hustle and bustle of the morning, BUT we cannot express how dangerous this is. Even if the light at Emerson is red, dropping a child off on Waukegan Road is unsafe. In addition, our children are watching and learning from us. Some of our students are only a year or two away from driver's training. We are their first teachers and we appreciate your partnership in helping model what we expect or will expect from them someday (in the very near future!).

Reminder - 8th-grade parents - IMPORTANT dates!

Winter Clothing Drive - Volunteer Service Club Share the Warmth is January 29th-February 9th. Drop off your donations into the boxes throughout the school. We are collecting the following items (new or gently used and clean): Coats, hats, mittens/gloves, scarves, belts, hand warmers and backpacks.

Own it: Move beyond what holds you back. Fear, doubt, hate, and excuses keep us from achieving and leading, but the thing that holds us back the most is ourselves. Ownership starts with having a clear vision of who you are and what you want, and it requires the inner toughness to make it what you want, and it requires the inner toughness to make it happen. Students leave with a new sense of ownership in life and leadership and the motivation to make it happen.

🏀 ♥️ ⚽️ ♥️ 🏐  GMS Sports Section  🏐 ♥️ ⚽️ ♥️ 🏀

Most sports are for students in 7th (JV) and 8th (Varsity) grades.  For some sports, we offer opportunities to the 6th graders. That depends on the interest at the 7th and 8th-grade levels.

IF you have a child who is planning on trying out for one of the seasons below next year, he/she

MUST have a current sports physical on file in the nurse's office.

PLEASE DO NOT WAIT.  A student cannot try out without a current physical on file.
