Weekly Update 2023-2024
Be Kind * Be Respectful * Be Your Personal Best

HELP #1 - ON TIME for School - This is a reminder that students must be on time for school.
The expectation is that students should be sitting in their seats by 8:20 am.
At 8:15, students go to their lockers and then head to 1st period so they can be prepared for the start of the day. If you are in the parking lot at 8:15 dropping off your student(s), they will most likey be late to 1st period.
It is recommended that students arrive by 8:10, so they have plenty of time to make sure they enter the building at 8:15 am.
We all know what it feels like to walk into a meeting or appointment late – We feel flustered, unsettled, and out of the loop. All students must arrive at school on time so they get their day started in a positive way to be ready for learning. Thank you for your assistance and support!
HELP #2 - Charging Chromebooks - Teachers across all grade levels are reporting that students are not coming to school with their Chromebooks charged. As you can imagine, so much of what is communicated is through Google Classroom and other educational apps. Students truly need to have this resource available to them throughout the day. If you could help your child set a routine for charging their Chromebook each night, so they can fully participate in their education, that would be incredibly helpful!
HELP #3 - NEXT WEEK ALL School Field Trip to attend the Niles North Collage Concert on Wednesday, December 13th from 9:15-11:30 am. Unfortunately, we still have permission slips that need to be completed and payments that need to come to the office. PLEASE click here for the electronic permission slip - Niles North Concert Permission Slip - Wednesday, December 13th, 2023. You can fill out one form for multiple students at GMS! Please send $4 to the office. If you know your child is going to be absent on this day, please call the office and let them know.
Graduation pictures were on Wednesday. It’s always fun to see the kids all dressed up! We will let you know when the pictures come in (it will take about four weeks). If your child missed the pictures or if he/she would like retakes, make-ups are Wednesday, January 24th.

🏀 ♥️ ⚽️ ♥️ 🏐 GMS Sports Section 🏐 ♥️ ⚽️ ♥️ 🏀
Most sports are for students in 7th (JV) and 8th (Varsity) grades. For some sports, we offer opportunities to the 6th graders. That depends on the interest at the 7th and 8th-grade levels.
IF you have a child who is planning on trying out for one of the seasons below next year, he/she
MUST have a current sports physical on file in the nurse's office.
PLEASE DO NOT WAIT. A student cannot try out without a current physical on file.
