As part of the shift to virtual learning, Georgetown issued a policy requiring classes to be recorded to accomodate less than normal circumstances where students may not be able to attend the live class for various reasons. There are two ways you are able to record your Zoom meeting. 1) To your computer and 2) to the Zoom cloud.
Once you have logged into your Zoom class through canvas, you will have the option to record your Zoom meeting.
To begin recording your Zoom class, you will need to move your mouse as if you are going to click “End Meeting”
To the left of “End Meeting” you will find an icon that looks like a circle and says “record” beneath it, click on this icon
Two options will now appear above the icon, “Record on this Computer” and “Record to the Cloud.” To have the recording save automatically to your computer, you will need to click “Record on this Computer.” If you want a Zoom link of the recording emailed to you instead, click “Record to the Cloud”
Once you have selected how you want the recording to be saved, you can verify that the recording has begun as the top left of your screen will now say “recording…”
The icon you had clicked to begin the recording will now show two buttons and the words “pause/stop recording.” Use these if you want to pause or end the recording.
If you forget to end the recording before ending the meeting, do not worry. By pressing “End Meeting” and “End Meeting for All” this will also stop the recording.
Please note: When you have finished recording, if you recorded to your computer, the file will be immediately avalible to you. If you recorded to the cloud, you will receive an email to your Georgetown Email with a link for you to access the recording and download it. If you record to the Zoom cloud, you will always be able to access the recordings from your Zoom account.
