Removing the ability for students to chat each other removes the ability for side conversations in Zoom and keeps the focus on the content being taught. The steps to setting this up are below.
Once you have started your meeting, navigate to the chat button on the bottom of your Zoom Screen. This button looks like a speech bubble and says “Chat” underneath it. Click on this icon.
This will open your chat menu. On the bottom of the chat, where it has “To:” above where you can type your message, all the way to the right there is a button with 3 dots. Click on this button.
A menu will appear when you click on this button. Select the option that says “Host Only” This setting will save automatically. You will still be able to send a chat to all students but they will only be able to send a chat to the host
