Being good at digital communication means you are good at written communication such as emails, creation of websites, blogs and texts.
It also means you are able to adapt your language to suit your audience and understand which platform best suits your client/recipient.
Communication skills is not only about providing the information but making sure your recipient understands what you are trying to communicate.
Speaking on the phone, video team meetings & emailing are just a few ways digital communication is embedded in the workplace. It is vital that employees have good communication skills to help with productivity.
Digital Networking, such as using LinkedIn which is a professional social media networking site. Using LinkedIn can help build your professional network and connections which means you can learn about great career opportunities & events.
Social Media is a main form of communication. You may only think about the way you are communicating on your platform but you may not think about the information you are receiving through accounts that you follow and the way they make you think/feel. That's why it is important to follow safe people that provide content which makes you feel good and educates you.
Text message through phones/WhatsApp. As you cant hear tone in a text message it is important that we think about how are message is coming across and how it might make the other person feel.
At college you will have to record different information on different systems, such as your industry placement hours on GroFar or if you are going to be late/absent.
Sending emails to tutors, it is important that you have a good email etiquette so the tutor can understand what you are communicating.

Digital communication is an essential skill in the workplace and employers like employees to be able to communicate thorough digital forms such as email. When a message is able to be communicated clearly this helps to speed up time, increases productivity and improves team morale.
We are also moving to more of a online/digital landscape to help improve workloads and faster ways of working. At a baseline employees will look for basic communication skills but If an employee has advance digital skills they stand out to an employer.
