Being proactive means being able to predict a situation or acting in advance rather than just reacting to a situation. Being proactive means recognising a problem and solving it, preparing for a potential crisis by taking positive action, taking advantage of opportunities and having a can do attitude.
You take control of situations, instead of being reactive, which means you let the environment take control of you and you do not do things that help you to change this. You are proactive, you think about things in advance and you know you can help make certain situations better which means you take responsibility of your own life.
Clear on your goals, being clear on your goals helps you to create an action plan of how to achieve them and you feel more organised and calm. When you are proactive you actively look for situations and opportunities to help you to achieve your goals.
Builds resiliency, as we build our self-confidence muscle, we learn to avoid obstacles because we learn to anticipate them. This ability allows us to limit any fearful thinking and quickly bounce back from unexpected challenges because we are adaptable to the change.
Don't be afraid to ask questions if you need clarity to complete a task or deadline.
Seek out feedback from your managers to know how you can develop and become stronger in your role.
Be active in meetings, give suggestions and say yes to new opportunities/projects.
Try a new hobby! Not only will this help you to feel creative but you will also develop life experience and skills but it will improve your mental wellbeing!

be proactive and find an industry placement/internship with a company. You can still find paid part time work around this but finding an industry placement opportunity one day a week which links to your course will give you so much life and career experience!
The proactive mindset is often intertwined with the growth mindset. If you have a growth mindset, you don’t give up when you face a challenge, you persist; you don’t see failures as a bad thing, but the opportunity to grow; you are inspired by the success of others instead of envious; your goal is to continuously grow and improve yourself. Proactive people are also not afraid to make positive changes themselves, by taking action instead of waiting for everything they want to magically appear in front of them.
Being proactive with ultimately help you in your career and life because you go out there and actively seek opportunities, you do the work you need to do to reach your goals.
