What does it mean to be self aware?
Being Self aware means that you have taken the time and effort to understand yourself better so you can make informed decisions that will help you improve your life and achieve your goals. Being self aware means you are able to reflect on your skills with accuracy and identify opportunities to improve further.
Perform self assessments based on your work performance, this helps you to understand where you are doing well and where you can develop your skills.
Ask for coaching or more support when you need this, this shows that you are aware and being proactive in areas that need developing.
Mindfulness involves being aware of your surroundings without imposing any personal biases. Practising mindfulness can help you enhance your ability to regulate emotions, decrease stress and address anxiety and depression
Make sure you give yourself time away from screens, go for a walk, spend time in nature, read a book. This helps to give your mind time to relax and not take in too much information and become over stimulated.
Be open to feedback, Listening to and accepting constructive criticism and feedback is a requirement for achieving a greater state of self-awareness. This is great to have peer and tutor feedback at college, It's important that you refrain from getting defensive so you can be receptive to feedback.
