I know a lot of the class will seem very sports-specific. However, there is absolutely a place for our Entertainment crowd.
You'll get a lot of freedom with your project that the other groups won't have. And each week as we're scoring our Fantasy Teams you'll have the opportunity to......
A couple of points specific to you:
The festival CAN already exist, but you want to be careful of using too much of their established intellectual property.
Creating your own though allows you to pick the venue, dates, and more!
The intent of this project will be to create marketing materials around your event.
As we create our sports-specific materials, you will be expected to adapt the content to fit your project.
As we start our class we will be "drafting" our lineup. Your project will be to produce a 3-Day Music Festival. You get to select what type of music you want to play. You will need select Headliners and Opening Acts. Check out the webpages of some other music festivals to get a feel for what this should look like.
Create a playlist of your artists on Spotify or Amazon Music or YouTube or any platform you'd like. I want to hear what you like! Maybe it'll be our class background music...
Now that you have a lineup, let's create our festival poster. Start with picking a name. Your festival will run 3 days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). There are a lot of really great tools to build this. Below, I'll provide a couple of options. You are welcome to use whatever software you want.
If 3 Days on one poster looks too busy, break it up! It's your festival and your choice!
Some required elements:
Festival name and dates
Location / venue
Lineup (headliners emphasized)
Visual theme / style (illustrations, photos, genre-appropriate design)
Optional: ticket prices, website, social media handles
Music festivals aren’t just about entertainment—they can make a real difference. By connecting your festival to a cause, you:
Give your event purpose beyond fun.
Raise awareness for an issue or organization you care about.
Potentially raise funds to support meaningful work.
Show how marketing and planning can be used for social good.
What cause did you choose and why?
How does your festival support this cause?
How will your festival promote awareness or raise funds?
Optional Extra: Include the cause visually on your festival poster to show your festival’s mission.
