  • CALL your students each week who did not submit work in the last 7 days

    • Texts are a great tool but calls are required for students who are not working on a regular basis

  • Parents should be called in weeks 2 and 3 (starting after 7 days of no work)

  • Send no work text to student (as follow-up or if you do not reach them on the phone)

  • Send no work text to student AND parent as a group in week two (so everyone is communicated to)

  • Set-up a call schedule and stick to it each week if the student is an inconsistent worker!

Reinstatements

Many times, after a student has been withdrawn from your course, they will reach out and ask to be reinstated. Should you reinstate? YES! We always want to accommodate students. However, it is important to make a plan before reinstating to ensure the student will stay successful!

Here are a few tips:

  • Always speak to the student AND the parent when reinstating

  • Make a plan to check in weekly

Before reinstatement, please verify the students POR is up to date.

If you need to reactivate a withdrawn student that is out of the grace period:

All teachers can reinstate students themselves in VSA up to 30 days after they have been withdrawn.

If you have a student that needs a reinstatement AFTER being withdrawn for 30 days, make sure you reach out to your IL for assistance and include the following information for their reinstatement (ILs are now able to reinstate students up to 6 months after a withdrawal):

  • Student Full Name:

  • VSA Username:

  • Course Name:

  • Course Segment:

  • Reason for Placement*:

  • Special Instructions** (if applicable):

Reinstatement Templates

Sometimes, you may ask the student to complete an assignment BEFORE they are reinstated. This way, once they are put back in the course, they have something ready to submit! A few things that can easily be completed are:

    • Skipped DBAs

    • Collaboration / Live Lesson

    • Or use one of our reinstatement templates below:
