Each communication with a student, no matter how brief, must be logged in VSA. This creates a narrative of a student's time in our course. The more specific the narrative, the more individualized each consecutive communication with the student will be. Here are some tips and tools to help you create specific, but quick, VSA logs.
Common Abbreviations
The abbreviations are commonly used at FLVS. Feel free to use any of these abbreviations to speed up the logging process.
Subject
Lines
The ideal subject line should convey with WHOM you communicated, the METHOD of communication, and the SUBJECT.
Message
Content with Texting
The body of your VSA log should as specifically as possible reflect your interaction with the student or other contact. With written communication such as text or email, always copy/paste the entire conversation.
Message
Content with Verbal Communication
In verbal communication, summarize the conversation concisely, but include all relevant details. If a student shares personality traits, interests, hobbies, etc., be sure to include those, as they create talking points for later conversations that will show students you care about them, not just their classwork.
