A big thank-you to Isaac's mom and grandmother for visiting our class! They read us a wonderful Thanksgiving book, played a fun round of Thanksgiving Bingo, and even brought us a yummy treat--freeze-dried grapes!
Our classroom was filled with laughter, smiles, and thankfulness.š¦We're so grateful for families who make our classroom such a warm and joyful place to be!ā„ļø

Ms. Cheyenneās 4th-grade students have been learning how to organize their thoughts and express their opinions clearly using the OREO writing methodāOpinion, Reason, Example, and Opinion restated. This strategy helps them build strong, well-structured paragraphs while keeping their writing engaging and persuasive. The class practiced each step together, discussed examples, and then applied what they learned to create their own opinion essays.
Students had the choice between two thought-provoking topics: āAre tests the best way to show what you know?ā or āShould students get to choose their own seats?ā Each student selected the topic that interested them most and used the OREO method to support their opinion with solid reasons and examples. The classroom buzzed with lively discussions, creative thinking, and confident writers stacking their ideas togetherājust like a perfect OREO cookie!

Ms. Cheyenne's 4th graders worked hard and every student made an A on their spelling test! To celebrate their success, they each received a special crocheted worry worm. These little worms are meant to be kept with them during test to help their worries disappear. Way to go, 4th grade---hard work really pays off!

Ms. Cheyenne's 4th-grade class wrapped up their study of The Gilded Age, a period known for America's Second Industrial Revolution and rapid economic growth, with a creative twist! Students researched influential figures from the era and showcased their learning through unique "briefcase projects." Each briefcase highlighted a key individual's contributions to industry, innovation, and progress, helping students connect history to real-world change in a hands-on, memorable way. Great job, 4th graders, for bringing history to life!
4th Grade learns about the many lives lost and the struggles that people endured on the Oregon Trail, as well as building covered wagons and visiting the Jacksonville Zoo, where they learned about various animals, including stingrays, which were their favorites.

On the 17th, Ms. Cheyenne's class finished up their chapter on plants by making a flower and labeling it's parts. When the class was being interviewed, they said that doing this project helped them further understand what they learned. They recall the parts of the flower: the roots, stem, leaves, and the flower. The roots soak up the nutrients from the soil, the leaves catch sunlight and water, the stem transports these nutrients to the flower, and finally the flower helps the species reproduce through pollinators.Ā
Ms. Cheyenne's class is currently studying the wild west, the Oregon Trail, cowboys, and the mistreatment of Native Americans. They are currently working on fractions for math, verbs in grammar, and are reading the Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.Ā
The fourth graders have completed their bug projects that they started last month and were so excited to learn about them and handle them.Ā
The projects begin!

Ms. Cheyenne's 4th-grade class started their unit on Insects and Spiders this week. We had special guests (a katydid and a moth) who we studied and released. Our individual projects were to capture six specimens, pin them, and learn about them online. We had so much fun with this! Shout out to Ms. Molly for the bugs.Ā
We took our turns with the katydid and moth, but some of us didn't care to hold them!
We also made our own specimens with clay.
