January🎉
In Ms. Cheyenne’s 4th-grade class, they’ve just wrapped up an amazing journey through their ocean science chapter! Over the past few weeks, our young oceanographers explored the depths of the ocean floor, learned about waves and currents, and even got to know all five oceans and the continents they border.
To cap it all off, each student created a colorful ocean creatures poster, diving into the habitats, diets, and survival secrets of their chosen marine animals. It’s been a splash of a good time, and we’re so proud of all they’ve learned!
Ms. Cheyenne’s fourth-grade class has a new class pet named Pipsqueak! Each weekend, Pipsqueak will go home with a student who shows kindness, helps in class, or earns good grades. Ms. Cheyenne can't wait to see all of her students' and Pipsqueak’s adventures! The first student to take Pipsqueak home was fourth grader Brecken! She brought Pipsqueak along to her horse show, showed her the ropes, took her out to eat, and even had a sleepover party with her.

Ms. Cheyenne’s 4th-grade class spent time reflecting on a year full of growth, learning, and special memories. To celebrate and look ahead, students created Vision Boards for 2026 filled with their goals, dreams, and positive affirmations. Each board shows what students are proud of and what they hope to accomplish in the future—academically and personally. We are so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see all the amazing things they will achieve in 2026!

Fourth grade kicked off their Christmas party today with a picture scavenger hunt. The Wet Bandits (boys) vs Kevin's Crew (girls). Each team had a list of FA employees they had to find and complete the pose set for the task. The winners took "bragging rights." The Wet Bandits didn't take it so well.
The time when Mrs. April HAD to get her picture taken!
Thumbs up, Mrs. Katie
The girls planned to win
Big smile, Mrs. Amy

🎄Ms. Cheyenne's 4th-grade class enjoyed an exciting Christmas Around the World project. Each student drew a different country and explored how people in that country celebrate Christmas. Students learned about unique traditions, foods, and customs, and compared how those traditions are different from and similar to our own.🎄
Ms. Cheyenne’s 4th-grade class learned about the phases of the moon and showed what they know in a fun hands-on activity. Students used Oreo cookies to create each phase—from new moon to full moon—by shaping the cream to match the moon’s appearance. It was a sweet and engaging way to understand the moon’s cycle!
Ms. Cheyenne’s 4th-grade class enjoyed a meaningful and festive read-aloud of The Legend of the Candy Cane. Students gathered together as they explored the story behind one of Christmas’s most cherished treats. Through the book, the class learned how the candy cane’s shape, colors, and sweetness symbolize important parts of the Christmas story and remind us of the love, hope, and joy shared this season.
After reading, students discussed the hidden messages within the candy cane, including its “J” shape for Jesus, the shepherd’s staff, the red stripes representing His sacrifice, and the white symbolizing purity. The class reflected on how simple objects can carry deep meaning and how traditions can point us back to the heart of Christmas.
It was a wonderful moment of learning, reflection, and Christmas spirit in the classroom!
Also, a fun fact. The candy cane was originally invented as a "pacifier " for kids during church services. 4th-grade agreed that it works for math lessons, too.
🦃Ms.Cheyenne's 4th-grade class had an exciting adventure before the break! After reading How to Catch a Turkey, students put their detective skills to the test by following turkey hunt clues hidden around the school. Once every runaway turkey was tracked down, the class got creative by engineering cages using marshmallows and toothpicks to make sure their turkeys wouldn't escape again.
🦃It was a fun mix of reading, problem-solving, and hands-on STEM learning-filled with laughter, teamwork, and plenty of turkey-themed excitement.
A big thank-you to Isaac's mom and grandmother for visiting our class! They read us a wonderful Thanksgiving book, played a fun round of Thanksgiving Bingo, and even brought us a yummy treat--freeze-dried grapes!
Our classroom was filled with laughter, smiles, and thankfulness.🦃We're so grateful for families who make our classroom such a warm and joyful place to be!♥️

Ms. Cheyenne’s 4th-grade students have been learning how to organize their thoughts and express their opinions clearly using the OREO writing method—Opinion, Reason, Example, and Opinion restated. This strategy helps them build strong, well-structured paragraphs while keeping their writing engaging and persuasive. The class practiced each step together, discussed examples, and then applied what they learned to create their own opinion essays.
Students had the choice between two thought-provoking topics: “Are tests the best way to show what you know?” or “Should students get to choose their own seats?” Each student selected the topic that interested them most and used the OREO method to support their opinion with solid reasons and examples. The classroom buzzed with lively discussions, creative thinking, and confident writers stacking their ideas together—just like a perfect OREO cookie!

🍂Mrs. Sarah stopped by to read The Bad Seed Presents: The Good, The Bad, and The Spooky to Ms. Cheyenne's 4th graders. After the story, students created a Positive Pumpkin Patch filled with kind words and bright messages. It was a fun reminder that kindness always grows where it's planted.🍂

Ms. Cheyenne's 4th graders worked hard and every student made an A on their spelling test! To celebrate their success, they each received a special crocheted worry worm. These little worms are meant to be kept with them during test to help their worries disappear. Way to go, 4th grade---hard work really pays off!

Ms. Cheyenne's 4th-grade class wrapped up their study of The Gilded Age, a period known for America's Second Industrial Revolution and rapid economic growth, with a creative twist! Students researched influential figures from the era and showcased their learning through unique "briefcase projects." Each briefcase highlighted a key individual's contributions to industry, innovation, and progress, helping students connect history to real-world change in a hands-on, memorable way. Great job, 4th graders, for bringing history to life!
4th Grade learns about the many lives lost and the struggles that people endured on the Oregon Trail, as well as building covered wagons and visiting the Jacksonville Zoo, where they learned about various animals, including stingrays, which were their favorites.

Fourth grade found a huge tortoise on their trip.
The fourth grade spotted parrots on their adventure at the Jacksonville Zoo.
On the 17th, Ms. Cheyenne's class finished up their chapter on plants by making a flower and labeling it's parts. When the class was being interviewed, they said that doing this project helped them further understand what they learned. They recall the parts of the flower: the roots, stem, leaves, and the flower. The roots soak up the nutrients from the soil, the leaves catch sunlight and water, the stem transports these nutrients to the flower, and finally the flower helps the species reproduce through pollinators.
Ms. Cheyenne's class is currently studying the wild west, the Oregon Trail, cowboys, and the mistreatment of Native Americans. They are currently working on fractions for math, verbs in grammar, and are reading the Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.
The fourth graders have completed their bug projects that they started last month and were so excited to learn about them and handle them.
The projects begin!
The fourth graders have started on their insect poster boards!

Ms. Cheyenne's 4th-grade class started their unit on Insects and Spiders this week. We had special guests (a katydid and a moth) who we studied and released. Our individual projects were to capture six specimens, pin them, and learn about them online. We had so much fun with this! Shout out to Ms. Molly for the bugs.
We took our turns with the katydid and moth, but some of us didn't care to hold them!
We also made our own specimens with clay.
Friday, August 15 and Friday, August 22
Ms. Cheyenne's 4th-grade class is learning about the Revolutionary War including why it happened, important people involved, major battles, and key ideas.

Every student in the class made 100 or higher on last week's spelling test and got to remove their shoes for the rest of the day. Stay tuned to see if they can meet this week's goal to "wake up in a new Bugatti!"
