In this milestone (sometimes referred to as Concept Direction) the core team presents their plan for the overall exhibition experience.Â
Gain input on content and design direction, and demonstrate that the team is working within the established Scope of Work or discuss ideas and priorities that go beyond the original scope.
For inbound temporary exhibitions, the objective is to secure approval for proposed FM additions, if applicable.
Look & Feel concepts for both graphics and overall exhibition design
Schematic design (including sketches and imagery to help illustrate mood/feel) or spatial organization plan
Major design elements or experiences identified, if applicable
Overall visitor experience (how immersive, etc)
Level and type of community involvement
Iconic objects and experiences proposed
Early concept sketches/inspiration/mood boards/similar examples for major media & interactives, if applicable
If inbound temporary exhibition, Team presents plans for FM additions as outlined in the Scope of Work (goals, contents, design, and budget)
For Field Museum generated temporary exhibitions, this happens three months (2 in document) after the Team Orientation. For smaller or inbound exhibition this happens two months after the Team Orientation or can be omitted entirely.
