The Interactives Technician works independently and as part of a team to primarily maintain exhibit interactives. Also maintains general exhibit elements. Occasionally assists with the installation of temporary exhibits. Occasionally assist media services with rounds and weekend staffing. This position reports directly to Exhibitions Production Director.
Perform maintenance repairs and upgrades on exhibit interactives.
Repairs and upgrades often involve one or more of the following elements:
Low voltage electrical circuits (Arduino and BASIC Stamp)
Audio and visual media
Moving mechanical parts
Lighting control and power
Works as an individual or in collaboration with supervisor, manager, audio-video technicians, and/or outside service technician to troubleshoot, problem solve and implement solutions for exhibit interactive problems.
Researches and purchases parts and supplies used to maintain exhibit interactives along with maintaining parts and supplies inventories.
Organizes and maintains records for exhibit interactives
Reading architectural drawings, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics
Assist with fabrication, assembly, installation, dismantling, or moving of exhibit properties
Performs woodworking, metalworking, and plastic work to build or repair exhibit elements.
Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor, manager or director.
