Name: Celo
Pantheon: The Core Pantheon
Titles & Aliases: Goddess of Gentle Rains, The Sky-Mother, The Quiet Bloom, The Bringer of Breezes, Cielo (Ancient 2nd World Spelling).
Gender / Form: Female (She/Her).
Manifestation: She appears as a beautifully stylized, youthful maternal woman with a straight, shoulder-length bob of white-silver hair and a distinctive orange sunburst or flame tribal sigil tattooed onto the center of her forehead.
Vestments: She wears an elegant, layered short kimono robe of deep orange and brilliant gold, decorated with intricate embroidery of branching trees and autumn leaves. Her midriff is exposed beneath a dark, sculpted metallic under-bust corset plate fastened with thick purple cord tassels. She wears dark fingerless gauntlets and long, buckled dark platform leather boots adorned with heavy hanging purple tassels. She is typically depicted sitting serenely on a golden circular arc above a crescent moon, surrounded by golden bamboo stalks and white ceremonial rabbit spirits (Inaba-shu) in dark purple robes, while a massive, multi-eyed dark guardian bull with burning orange accents looms behind her.
Alignment: Lawful Good (Shifted from Chaotic Good in the 2nd World).
Status: Major Goddess of the Pillar of Life.
Divine Realm: Aer Borealis (The Azure Canopy).
Primary Domains: Nature and Weather (The Beneficial and Nurturing aspects).
Portfolio: Gentle rains, cooling breezes, warm sunlight, spring, rainbows, farmers, and sailors who depend on balanced weather patterns to navigate.
Cleric Domains (5e): Nature, Survival, and Tempest (specifically the beneficial forces of the storm, such as wind in the sails or rain that breaks a drought).
Holy Symbol: A rising sun behind a cloud over a great oak tree, or an orange forehead sigil framed by golden bamboo.
Favored Weapon: Quarterstaff or Sickle.
Favored Colors: Sky-blue, spring-green, bright orange, and white.
Sacred Animals / Plants: The Dove, the Robin, the Oak tree, and the Moon-Rabbit.
Core Dogma: "Nature is a gift, a blessing. The sun rises to warm you, the rains fall to feed you, the wind blows to guide you. Treat this gift with respect. Be gentle, be kind, be steadfast. Protect the good in nature, for it is the good in life."
Tenets for Followers:
"Be a gentle force, like the rain that nurtures the seed."
"Protect the good parts of nature—the farms, the groves, and the gentle rivers."
"Be patient. Goodness is a Lawful cycle; the spring will always return."
"Pray for balance and the love of Reth, so that his raw storm does not overwhelm her calm."
Sins & Taboos:
"To wantonly destroy or defile nature."
"To curse the rain, which is a gift even when inconvenient."
"To hoard food or water; nature's bounty must be shared."
Pillar Alignment: A Major Goddess of the Pillar of Life under El. She acts as El's gentle hand, managing the weather required to sustain living societies.
Subordinates: Amini (God of Seasons), Lilino (Oceans), and Uriku (Rivers).
Predecessor & Trans-World Connections:
Cinaco (2nd World): Celo split from the ancient chaotic sea deity Cinaco (Oceanic), taking the nurturing atmospheric elements and ordering them into a Lawful Good cycle, leaving the violent depths to others.
Lover & Counterpart: Reth (Major God of Storms). Reth is the destructive storm, while Celo is the beneficial calm. Their passionate, volatile romance serves as the literal engine of the world's weather.
Name of the Church: The Gentle Hand (The Sky-Tenders).
Worshipper Base: Farmers, pastoral communities, coastal sailors, and druids of the gentle circles.
Clergy Structure: A structured, community-focused Lawful Good hierarchy. Acolytes are "Buds," priests are "Tenders," and bishops are designated as "Keepers of the Sun."
Temple Description: Open-air groves, hill-top greenhouses, or beautiful mountain shrines adorned with wind-chimes, orange drapery, and bamboo gardens.
The Lover's War: The defining cosmological myth. It dictates that weather is not a passive mechanical force, but the reflection of Celo and Reth's relationship. When Celo is calm and dominant, the skies are fair; when Reth angers or seduces her, his lightning breaks through, creating hurricanes and blizzards out of their passionate arguments.
