Foothill-Rest is a collection of sturdy, low-profile longhouses built from dark mountain granite and topped with thick sod roofs. The village is nestled in a natural "bowl" in the terrain that protects it from the biting winds coming off the Cloud-Touched peaks. Large pens for mountain goats and sheep surround the perimeter, and the smell of raw wool and peat smoke hangs heavy in the air. It sits between the harsh alpine reaches and the fertile plains.

Founded in Y94 by three families who found the higher altitudes of High-Crest too punishing for their livestock. They negotiated a pact with the Thanes to provide high-quality wool in exchange for protection. It has survived primarily because it is of little interest to raiders, though the villagers have recently grown nervous as travelers from the west bring stories of the "Halfling Warlord" expanding his reach.
