Name: Eresi (E-res'-ee)
Pantheon: The Core Pantheon
Titles & Aliases: God of Woodlands and Hunting; The Neutral Tracker; The Sexless Hunter; Eci (Ancient 2nd World Form).
Gender / Form: Sexless, possessing a powerful, leanly muscled human-like framework. He accepts both masculine and feminine terms with complete indifference.
Divine Form: He manifests as an ancient, striking entity whose entire flesh is composed of deep teal and dark forest-green tree bark. His head features towering, forward-sweeping and backward-curving tree horns or antlers intertwined with creeping vines and moss. A heavy mantle of vibrant green leaves weaves across his broad shoulders and chest like living camouflage vestments. His sharp, narrow eyes glow with a menacing, predatory orange-red fire.
Assumed Form: He can seamlessly shift into any domestic or wild beast, though his favorite avatar remains a magnificent, pristine 12-point stag.
Alignment: Neutral
Status: God in the Pillar of Life.
Divine Realm: Cervus Venator (The Stalking Grove).
Primary Domains: Woodlands, Hunting, and All Animals.
Portfolio: Ecosystems, wild and domestic beast habitats, the natural law of the food chain, and the balance of the tracking hunt.
Cleric Domains (5e): Nature & War.
Holy Symbol: The head and antlers of a 12-point deer.
Favored Weapon: Spear (the traditional tracking tool) or Antlers (in his avatar form).
Favored Colors: Forest-green and antler-white.
Sacred Animals / Plants: The Stag and all woodland creatures.
Core Dogma: "The forest is a single body. The wolf, the deer, the sheep, and the farmer are all organs. The Law of the Hunt is the blood that connects them. I am the heart. Do not hunt me, for I am the deer you stalk, the hound at your side, and the forest that watches you. Respect the habitat, for it is the animal's home. Respect the hunt, for it is the 'War' that is 'Nature.'"
Tenets for Followers:
"Respect all animals, wild and domestic, for they are all children of the wood."
"Defend the habitat. To destroy a forest is to slaughter the creatures within it."
"Hunt with strict survival purpose; the hunt is natural, but it is never a game or sport."
Sins & Taboos:
"The Hunter's Folly: to attempt to hunt a 'Sacred Deer' avatar, which invites immediate, lethal forest retribution."
"To wantonly clear or pollute an animal's habitat through fire or rot."
Pillar Alignment: A God in the Pillar of Life. He coordinates closely with Saery (Major God of Death) to judge the natural "war" of predator and prey.
Predecessor & Trans-World Connections:
Eci (2nd World): Eresi is the direct continuation of the sexless 2nd World woodland deity Eci, carrying her absolute preservation codes for animal habitats into the new continental systems.
Name of the Church: The Keepers of the Habitat (The Hunter's Folly).
Temple Description: His church explicitly rejects constructed stone or buildings. Temples are dedicated wild animal sanctuaries, pristine hidden valleys, or deep old-growth forests where his sacred deer roam freely.
The Great Hunt of Eci: In the ancient era of the 2nd World, Eresi was known as Eci, the silent shadow of the primeval woods. When the worlds shifted, Eci’s absolute focus on habitat preservation was challenged by the rise of urban expansion. Rather than launching a war, Eresi manifested as a legendary white stag, leading the greatest huntsmen of the mortal kingdoms on a wild, endless chase through the deep briars. Those who followed the stag learned the humility of the tracker, realizing that to destroy the forest was to lose the very hunt that defined their souls. The legend of the "Stag's Camouflage" remains a foundational myth of the rangers.
