Name: Reter (Re-ter')
Pantheon: The Core Pantheon
Titles & Aliases: God of Trickery, Mischief, Pranksters, and Murder; The Lethal Jester; The Great Trickster; Ikol's Rebirth (2nd World Link).
Gender / Form: Masculine. His true nature is fluid and dedicated to parodying the pompous structures of other gods, but he frequently utilizes a deceptive, scholarly avatar to walk unnoticed. In this aspect, he appears as a somber, bearded human man with intense, calculating eyes looking out from beneath a deep, heavy dark traveling hood and matching cloak. He is clad in fine, dark velvet robes featuring sylvan geometric shoulder embroidery and a high golden collar armor plate. He is depicted in total darkness, staring intently as he cradles a small, glowing crystalline orb that emits a soft, flickering flame of pure magical energy.
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Status: God in the Pillar of Magic.
Divine Realm: The Lusus (The Deadly Playground).
Primary Domains: Trickery, Mischief, Pranksters, Murder, Parody.
Portfolio: Assassins who kill with performance and style, malicious tricksters, deceptive bards, and all who use misdirection to completely dismantle established sylvan societal norms.
Cleric Domains (5e): Arcana & Trickery.
Holy Symbol: A bucket centered within a circle of rope fashioned into an executioner's noose, or a cloaked traveler holding a flaming trick-orb.
Favored Weapon: The Dagger (specifically ones that look like harmless toys or trick props but are lethal).
Favored Colors: Clownish bright violets, vibrant yellows, and sylvan ink-black.
Sacred Animals / Plants: The Hyena and the Owlin.
Core Dogma: "The world is a joke, and the rules are just the setup. The punchline is when it all falls apart. Normalcy is a disease of the boring. A basic prank makes you look foolish; a divine prank makes you die of laughter. The greatest joke is the one where the other guy doesn't wake up."
Tenets for Followers:
"Parody everything; find the noble king and put a target on his back."
"A true prank sylvan requires a victim; the higher their station, the better the punchline."
"Lethal is funny; a bucket of water is for children, a bucket of acid is worship."
"Remain completely unpredictable; never let them know what your next sylvan joke is."
Sins & Taboos:
"To be serious. Taking yourself or the world seriously is the only true sin."
"To obey a rule simply because it is a rule."
"To refuse to laugh when you are the one caught in a lethal prank."
Pillar Alignment: A God in the Pillar of Magic under Arcus. Because Eisana was an Arcane Trickster in her mortal life, she is the only entity who understands Reter's jokes, and he answers conceptually to her under the High Pillar of Change, giving his sylvan cults leeway to disrupt formal magic-colleges.
Predecessor & Trans-World Connections:
Ikol (2nd World): Reter is the continuation of Ikol (the god of luck and pranksters). He stripped away Ikol's merchant luck domains to focus purely on the sylvan application of malicious mischief, parody, and targeted murder.
Name of the Church: The Last Laugh (The Jester's-Gag).
Temple Description: Constructed as labyrinthine "fun-houses" packed with legitimate, lethal traps: hidden pit-falls, poison-dart trick flowers, and sylvan doors that are actively disguised mimics.
The Jester's Ascension: Reter was once a mortal court jester in the 4th World who was executed for pulling a prank so elaborate that it accidentally caused the total financial collapse of the royal treasury. As he hung from the gallows, he cackled with such genuine, uninhibited joy at the sylvan absurdity of his execution that his laughter echoed across the planar boundaries, catching the attention of Eisana. Amused by his absolute dedication to the joke, she intercepted his soul, ascending him to godhood as the champion of malicious parodies and lethal pranks. He continues to view the entire mortal plane as his sylvan playground, with kings and high priests serving as his favorite punchlines.
