If you would like to volunteer in our classroom this year, please fill out the background check form HERE. If you have an approved background check you can sign up to volunteer HERE. It automatically sends me an email when you sign up so there is no need to tell me as well. When you arrive to volunteer, stop in the office to sign in and grab a visitor badge before you come to the classroom. You will need to return the badge and sign out when you leave.Â
We will be doing some fall themed activities the last few days of the month. This will include a special snack! If you would like to contribute items to the snack you can sign up HERE. Donations are never expected, but always appreciated!

In your child's Friday folder I sent home a literacy activity that connects to what their reading group is currently working on. If you would like to work on math at home, page 9-12 in your child's pink math notebook cover current skills. You do not need to return math pages, but if you work on math you can mark it on your home learning log.
In PBL, we talked about the life cycle of a butterfly. To celebrate saying goodbye to our Painted Ladies last week, we finger painted some butterflies in the style of Claude Monet. Monet is known for his paintings of nature using blurred lines and colors.
We went for our second hike in the woods! While our focus was outdoor play, we also encouraged the kids to turn things over and search for any hidden insects.
In math, we learned about patterns. We talked about AB, AAB, ABC, and AABB patterns. This included creating pattens with our voices/sounds, using our bodies/movements, and math objects.
In reading, we are almost finished with our alphabet study. One of our reading groups are working on gaining more letters/sounds. Another two reading groups are focusing on blending and segmenting cvc words, and our last reading group is reading text that incorporates cvc words and some high frequency words.
In movement class, the kids have been working on using their bodies to choreograph a butterfly life cycle dance. I sat in on one of their classes and I was so impressed by their ideas and how much of their dance they already have practiced!
