If you would like to volunteer in our classroom this year, please fill out the background check form HERE. If you have an approved background check you can sign up to volunteer HERE. It automatically sends me an email when you sign up so there is no need to tell me as well. When you arrive to volunteer, stop in the office to sign in and grab a visitor badge before you come to the classroom. You will need to return the badge and sign out when you leave.
We will be doing some fall themed activities the last few days of the month. This will include a special snack! If you would like to contribute items to the snack you can sign up HERE. Donations are never expected, but always appreciated!

If you would like to join Girl Scouts I have attached the flyer below. If you are not able to sign up your child due to the cost, they wanted us to remind you that there is financial assistance available.
In your child's Friday folder I sent home a literacy activity that connects to what their reading group is currently working on. If you would like to work on math at home, page 7 in your child's pink math notebook cover current skills. You do not need to return math pages, but if you work on math you can mark it on your home learning log.
We had a successful first trip to the woods! We hiked some of the trails and played in one of the open spaces. The kids did really well following the expectations that we set and had a lot of fun.
We had a busy last week with our mystery insects. First, we watched them come out of their chrysalis. Then, we did a scientific drawing of our emerged butterflies. After that, we used an identification website to find butterflies that matched our mystery one. After looking through dozens of butterflies, we figured out ours are called "Painted Lady". Finally, we said goodbye to our butterflies and released them into the butterfly garden next to school.
In reading, we learned about the letters Bb, Ee, Kk, and Hh while continuing to work on blending and segmenting CVC words. Your child will be bringing home an activity that works on the same skills they are learning about in their reading group. In math, we worked on a lot on number writing this week. This included a new number tracing work place game!
Lastly, I caught a few photos from recess and movement class this week!
