We are doing some school-wide winter activities on December 19th, the day before we leave for break! If you are interested in helping you can sign up HERE.
If you would like to volunteer during our classroom reading block, and have an approved background check, you can sign up to volunteer HERE. It automatically sends me an email when you sign up so there is no need to tell me as well. When you arrive to volunteer, stop in the office to sign in and grab a visitor badge before you come to the classroom. You will need to return the badge and sign out when you leave.Â

If you would like to work on math at home, page 43-56 in your child's pink math notebook cover current skills.Â
We finished all of our learning for our insect unit. Now it's time to start preparing for our upcoming EOL! To finish our unit, we made one final scientific drawing. We started the process by watching a video called "Austin's Butterfly". In this is about a boy named Austin who learned how to draw a butterfly through multiple rounds of peer feedback.Â
Then, each student selected an insect for their final piece. They made a first draft of that insect.
After that, the students recieved feedback from their kindergarten peers before attempting their second draft.
Then, they recieved feedback on their second draft from Mrs. McKeone's 2/3 grade students.
Finally, we were ready to draw our final insects on large paper and watercolor them. We are excited to share the final pieces at our EOL in January!
Gym has some exciting new equipment! I believe they will have two more classes with the jungle gym set up.
In math, we have been learning some new work place games, practicing our addition and subtraction within 10, and counting by 2s.
