You can send your valentine's day cards anytime between now and February 13th. Please only fill out the "From: ___" section. We have 19 students in our class. Valentine's can be sent in a bag with your child's name on it.
Mrs. Held, our art teacher, is in need of cereal boxes (or other thin cardboard) if you have any at home you'd like to send in.
Some have asked for our classroom Amazon wishlist so here you go! https://a.co/alUSQxG
If you would like to volunteer during our classroom reading block, and have an approved background check, you can sign up to volunteer HERE. It automatically sends me an email when you sign up so there is no need to tell me as well. When you arrive to volunteer, stop in the office to sign in and grab a visitor badge before you come to the classroom. You will need to return the badge and sign out when you leave.
CLICK HERE if you would like to view the school lunch menu.
If you would like to work on math at home, page 63-68 in your child's pink math notebook cover current skills. I also sent home the February home learning log in Friday folders.
The kids have been making a lot of growth in their reading and writing skills over the last couple months! Our reading groups are moving at a slightly faster pace, were focusing more on making sure our work is done neatly and to the best of our ability, and we've been showing more independence during work time.
Since we were stuck inside so much this week, due to the cold weather, we decided to decorate our Valentine's Day bags a bit early. Now they are ready to be filled with valentines in a couple weeks!
We started our 2nd half of the year PBL (project-based learning) unit this week! Our new essential question is, "How do we work together to solve a problem?" The is a fairy tale engineering unit. This week we started with the story of Goldilocks. We talked about what a character and a setting is and documented them for the story of Goldilocks.
We learned a few new math games this week that can also be played at home if you have some notecards and a writing tool. Below you can watch some videos of the kids walking you through how to play two of our new games.
We've been stuck inside most of the week again... which meant a little extra play time. The kids did well considering all of the indoor recesses. Hopefully it will be warmer next week!
