You can send your valentine's day cards anytime between now and February 13th. Please only fill out the "From: ___" section. We have 19 students in our class. Valentine's can be sent in a bag with your child's name on it.
Mrs. Held, our art teacher, is in need of cereal boxes (or other thin cardboard) if you have any at home you'd like to send in.
Some have asked for our classroom Amazon wishlist so here you go! https://a.co/alUSQxG
If you would like to volunteer during our classroom reading block, and have an approved background check, you can sign up to volunteer HERE. It automatically sends me an email when you sign up so there is no need to tell me as well. When you arrive to volunteer, stop in the office to sign in and grab a visitor badge before you come to the classroom. You will need to return the badge and sign out when you leave.
CLICK HERE if you would like to view the school lunch menu.
If you would like to work on math at home, page 63-68 in your child's pink math notebook cover current skills. I also sent home the February home learning log in Friday folders.
In PBL this week, we continued reading different versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Mr. Hamm even stopped in to read one of the stories!
We then identified the problems in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We discussed how Goldilocks really doesn't solve any of the problems she created in the story. We brainstormed solutions to 4 different problems we identified.
We then documented the problems and solutions in our PBL notebooks.
In math we learned about a new tool-- number lines! We created some number lines and then practiced using them to count, add, and subtract with partners. Throughout the week we also played a few different games that incorporated number lines.
Our reading groups have been very busy! Their knowledge is really starting to take off this time of year and we are moving at a faster pace. If your child is bringing books home, reading them a few more times will really help their fluency!
Lastly, some photos from this week's choice times!
