We need some volunteers to assist kids during our next engineering challenge. If you have an approved background check, and would like to help, you can sign up HERE.
It's time for Blackout in gym class! Black clothing is encouraged on the next 3 gym days. I have included the days on our March calendar.
Some have asked for our classroom Amazon wishlist so here you go! https://a.co/alUSQxG
If you would like to volunteer during our classroom reading block, and have an approved background check, you can sign up to volunteer HERE.
CLICK HERE if you would like to view the school lunch menu.
If you would like to work on math at home, page 93-94 in your child's pink math notebook cover current skills. I also sent home the February home learning log in Friday folders.
On Monday our class will have their first opportunity to play Blackout in gym! An explaination of the game went home on a piece of paper in your child's Friday folder. It's basically a mix of capture the flag, flashlight tag, and hide and seek. Some of the kids are a bit nervous, and asked to see what Blackout looks like, so here's some videos of my class playing the game last year. On gym days it's encouraged to send kids in black (or dark) clothing so they can hide easier when playing the game!

We started our next fairy tale and engineering challenge! We have been studying The Three Little Pigs. First, we identified the characters, setting, and problem in the story. Then, we brainstormed solutions for solving their problem. We decided that the 3 pigs need some new, strong houses. We learned a new thinking routine called Claim and Support. We did an example claim and support with a shelter that I chose.
Finally, each group chose a shelter that they thought would be the best for the pigs to live in. They did a claim and support to document their thinking.
