I was already really impressed with the group on the first day of school! They caught on to the routines pretty quickly, were very kind to each other, and were excited about school.Â
We focused a lot this week on getting to know each other and learning some of our new school routines and procedures. At choice time we learned about sharing, being gentle with the toys, and cleaning up after ourselves efficiently.
At recess, we learned about all of the equipment, how to play safely, and how to line up when the whistle blows.
In math, we started by learning about some of our math tools that we will be using throughout the year. We also learned how to do math rotations.
We also worked on our fine motor skills (cutting, coloring, and using a pencil).
We talked about our Hopes and Dreams for the school year and made some butterflies to display them in the classroom.
The class got to set expectations and spend time getting to know each other in their specials.
In literacy, we sang our new alphabet song, did our daily phonemic awareness together, started our Lexia reading app on the iPads, and learned about the letter/sound Aa. Sorry, I forgot to take more pictures!
We ended our first week with some group pictures outside 🙂
