Dear Readers,
This year’s Anthology was named “Gnome Matter What” in honor of our dedicated writers who accomplished five or more pieces each as well as interviews, group poems, and poetry reviews. All of these projects were completed over the course of two weeks. A total of nine writers contributed to this anthology. Every writer took their own creative liberties over their poems, fiction, and creative nonfiction work. This year’s issue is organized as follows: three poems, a short story, a CNF, and a poem review.
Between working on their projects, the creative writing class hosts the annual SHP Poetry Slam on the first Wednesday. Despite all of the participants, only four can take home a prize. Between hosting, announcing, and inspiring fun for everyone, the class is always excited to run a traditional event. As a special addition to this year’s programing we took a trip to visit the Art Farm in Marquette, NE and well as the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA).
Despite the challenges of our writing, we learned a lot and loved our time within the program. Our website is in collaboration with the SHP Art Class, as we publish one work from each of their students every year. We encourage you to dig in and gnome matter what, enjoy what you find within the anthology.
Sincerely,
