Assignment 11: Add Vocals to your Blues

Expand your song


  • The song is currently only 12-bars long
  • For the assignment you will need to have at least to sets of 12 bars (24 bars).
  • Use the magnifying glasses at the bottom right of the screen to make the project smaller.
  • Click and drag on your mousepad so that you select all the tracks.
  • Click "edit" and "copy"
  • Move, the time needle to bar 13.
  • Click "edit" and "paste"
  • This will add 12 bars to your song.

Recording Vocals on your Computer

For this part of your project you will need to use headphones.

Otherwise, the microphone will often pick up the sounds from the speakers, creating a feedback loop.

Steps:

  • Log into your project on soundtrap.com
  • Open your project in studio
  • Once your project is open, click "Add a New Track"
  • Select "Voice and Microphones"
  • It is imporant to test your vocals before you start recording.
  • Click on "Vocal Test"
  • The audio test will prompt you to sing to check for levels.

Adding Autotune


  • If you would like to add autotune to your vocals, ust hover over the region you wish to auto-tune, click EDIT (1) and choose Auto-TuneĀ® (2).

Assignment 11:


  • Now that we have some basic backing tracks, it is time to add vocals.
  • You can either sing or speak your vocals.
