Assignment 10: Analyze and Organize "Adore You"

Organize "Adore You".mp4

A song is more than the sum of its parts.

The parts work together to take the listener on a musical journey. If there is too much repetition of parts, the listener gets bored. If there is not enough repetition, the listener can become confused and miss the point.

Today we analyzed the structure of two pop songs. We can learn from their structure ways that we can organize our own songs.

In this assignment you will be organizing a song that has been chopped up into its parts. You will organize it and, in the process, discover how each part complements and builds to other parts which creates the overall effect of the song.

1. Listen to "Adore You" by Harry Styles.

2. Map out the song structure (Introduction, Verse, etc).

3. Open up the Soundtrap Link

4. Listen to each track by soloing it.

5. Label each track by what it is (i.e. Chorus)

6. Arrange the song in the correct order moving horizontally.

7. Play the song to make sure it matches your song structure map.

8. Hit Save and wait for it to mix.

9. Download and attach an Mp3 of the project to the Google Classroom assignment. I made a tutorial video on how to do that here: https://bit.ly/2FSpJJQ
