Year 9 Performance Practices students will spend time developing a foundation in music reading on piano. Once the foundations are set, students then choose to continue on piano or take up another instrument for further study.
Students will learn about positive posture and the best rehearsal techniques to use; working with the body instead of against it to prevent strain when repeating movements during practice. Students log their rehearsals and comment on the strategies used for practice in order to develop efficiency and maximise results in the allotted time.
Performance Practices students will learn how to analyse music structurally and stylistically in order to create their own interpretations of songs of their choice to perform to a range of audiences. Students will also learn to use OHS principles to safely set up, use and pack down equipment used in music practice and performance..
