In Year 9 Media Studies, students will analyse how filmmakers and creators use storytelling techniques (structure, setting, characters), genre expectations, and their overall intentions to craft meaning through technical elements (sound, lighting, editing) and symbolic elements (imagery, colours). They consider how social issues, cultural norms, and ethical considerations shape the creation and use of media art.
Students explore diverse perspectives and present alternative viewpoints in their own media projects, considering different audiences and contexts (community groups, school events). They learn and apply the steps involved in making media art, from designing the project to producing it to sharing it with the chosen audience.
