Altona College Pathways Guide

As students journey through Year 9, pathway planning reaches a heightened level of importance in their education. Conversations between families, students and staff focus on the characteristics of each learner and how they might reach their future goals. Areas such as work ethic, personal resilience and engagement along with fundamental literacy, numeracy, critical thinking and reasoning skills all come into consideration when choosing a study pathway.

As they complete years 10 – 12, some students will look towards tertiary education in the form of University or TAFE. Others will search for an apprenticeship or a transition into full time work. Regardless of the pathway, Altona College aims to offer a program appropriate to each students’ needs. Offering a range of VCE,  VCE-VM and VPC courses, students also have full access to VET courses from every secondary provider in the Wyndham and Hobsons Bay Learning Network. Regular contact with pathways trained staff ensures every student decision is made with their learning pathway in mind.
