This course may count towards your ATAR as well as allow you to achieve a Statement of Attainment towards or a Certificate II in Construction Pathways (CPC20220) and SoA towards Certificate II in Construction (CPC20120)
In this course, students can gain skills in building, and modifying existing buildings, contracting and quoting, designing and managing projects and dealing with clients, workers and professionals. Construction links well with other courses, such as ‘Design and Technology’ and ‘Manufacturing and Engineering’.
The course is based on practical activities such as carpentry, building, concreting and project management on a building site. Part of the course involves the completion of 1 week’s work placement in both Year 11 and Year 12.

Mandatory Course Requirements:
Students must complete 240 indicative hours of coursework and a minimum of 70 hours of work placement. Not meeting these requirements will incur an `N` determined as required by NESA
Uniform:
White Card (general construction induction card) – training costs: $110 approximately.
Students work to develop the skills and knowledge described by each unit of competency. To be assessed as competent, you must demonstrate your ability to satisfactorily complete the tasks required in the assessments.
Appeals and Complaints
You may lodge a complaint or an appeal about a decision (including assessment decisions) by following the Appeals and Complaints Guidelines.
There are no marks awarded in competency-based assessments. Students are assessed as either ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’. When a student achieves a unit of competency, the assessor signs it off in a competency record book.
The Higher School Certificate examination for Construction (240 indicative hours) will involve a written examination consisting of multiple-choice items, short answers and extended response items. This exam may count towards an ATAR.
The examination is independent of the competency-based assessment undertaken during the course and has no impact on the eligibility of a student to receive a vocational qualification.
· To withdraw from the HSC Examination students and parents must complete the required documentation.

Students can only undertake the Construction (120 indicative hours) course or the Construction (240 indicative hours) course.
