I was asked to create a presentation for our students on online privacy and safety. The 2023 versions of the presentations are here. It has been updated to focus on privacy online and a second presentation on online social activity as well. The presentations have no speaker notes (I spent so long making and tweaking it that speaker notes are not needed for me to present it).
As this is not a personal blog, I won't bore you with the full story or another 1000 words of non-information. Here they are...
This is the YouTube version of the deck above.
This presentation focuses on Social Media, our interaction with it as well as setting privacy to appropriate levels, turning off notifications and making decisions about Social Media apps based upon their privacy settings. It pulls no punches and make recommendations based upon this autor's opinion. Feel free to ignore the recommendations, but if you choose to, I strongly recommend you read the relevant privacy policies and make informed decisions. If you would like to go through the references more thoroughly or listen to the podcast episode at the start, the link to the presentation as a standalone is here.
