Functionality

Functionality is the ability and the standard of a design to work to its full potential, not including the aesthetic qualities of the design.

Chairs can have intricate and detailed designs, but as long as it can support your weight while seated, it performs its function exceptionally well.

Aesthetics

The aesthetics refers to the actual look of a design and its attractiveness. This can be seen through the elements of design (use of colours, shapes, textures, sizes etc).

Some chairs have different aesthetics than others, depending on colour, texture, pattern, etc.
Their attractiveness is entirely subjective, however there are other factors to consider...
